Has anyone done, or got an ideas on how to put a 5ft fence on top of gabion walling, would assume concrete around posts but my luck, the posts will fall on a joint etc anyone have any other ideas.
No wall not yet built, looking as a possible option on a property I am considering buying, just weighing up possible solutions at the moment and wondered if anyone had any experience of doing it. Cheers
Easy peasy. Shutter around the base of post with a 'pyramid' of plywood. Weigh or tie it down. Fill with concrete. When you add the stone you should be able to hide the pyramid.
Or metpost socket through a thick heavy duty paving slab, and use the stone fill to weigh it down. You will have to mark and carefully drill through the slabs for the bolt holes, and use big washers on the underside, coach bolting from below. Bed it all down on a layer or mortar to get level and stop the bolt heads from making it 'wobbly'
Or fix lengths of 6x2 to the posts in alternate directions, inside the gabion, to provide more resistance to 'dragging' though the stone. Once the stone is added it should all lock into place, provided it's well compacted.
